Girl and Cloister
I love the outdoor sky, and old interesting architecture, and sun dials. The phrase in gold harkens back to medieval religious paintings, and I thought the phrase there is a good complement to that on the sun dial.
Trees A-Flame
These bare trees were in need of something dramatic. I like symbology, so found a graphic having to do with the earth's harmony between cool and wet (moon) and warm and dry (sun). The harmony of (slight) symmetry is also present in the fencing and the foreground vegetation about the path.
Magic Greenhouse
A nearly-full moon; the phases of the moon as the earth rotates. The little girl looks out at the scene from her magical greenhouse, filled with living plants as the trees outside are barren -- except for a few green leaves and a single red flower.
(This picture was selected by Citizens' Greener Evanston in a juried show, titled "People, Planet, and Harmony," spring 2011. It will be exhibited in a group of photographs at the Custer Street Art Fair [Evanston IL] in mid-June 2011, and then become part of the permanent collection at the Ecology Center in Evanston IL.)
The Law of Universal Gravitation
The girl with birds -- is she gentle or not? A photo of a couple found in the knot of a tree. The Newtonian formula of the law of universal gravitation, when all is pulled together.
(This picture was juried into the student exhibit at the Evanston Art Center, June 2011.)
Free Birds
A settee with leopard feet, and a little girl sitting with birds in a gilded cage. However, birds burst free through the window. The Wheel of Pythagoras is the background force, divining the future.
Primitive Elements
The woods, an image of a sundial set in stones, random flames atop an odd shed, and children with a most peculiar balloon.
The Garden
A twist on a secret garden. It's difficult to know if the children are endangered or if they're enchanted.
