Child on Horse in Woods

While walking in the woods, I came upon this child, with her father, riding toward a clearing.  They stopped to watch my approach, and the child looked so happy on her horse.

Boy on Bridge in Woods

This bridge over a stream is found in the woods behind North Central Michigan College in Petoskey MI.  It was uncertain to me what the children were doing here.  It seemed to me that the girl on the left was bringing a rose to the little boy on the bridge.  The girl with the bird on her shoulder was most likely his sister.  They seemed unaware of the wolf in the background.

White Picket Gate

I must admit to liking the melodramatic! I saw this gate while driving, and felt compelled to build a narrative around it.  The little girl in shadow, holding a rose, with scattered petals and a lost glove just outside the gate; a graph of the electrical activity of the human heart is in the top left quadrant.  The viewer shares in creating the story here.

Shared Journey

These twin girls appear to be on a shared journey; this is further emphasized by the astrology chart for twins. But at some future point their physical paths are bound to diverge, possibly once they pass through the trellised arch. In the meantime, they support one another through uncertainty.

Man Upside Down on Chair

Performer or lunatic? Or possibly a man demonstrating a mathematical equation relating to human possibilities in space.

The Visitation

The scarf provides a burst of light in an otherwise desolate winter scene.  Birds catch the wind overhead, while one of their unfortunate own lies in the cold snow of a lingering winter.
